Vanessa Gold is selling a 10% stake..
Could this be the start of a sell off, or just cashing in.

"Westside I'm not sure you understand the way our share issue worked, when Kretinsky invested into West Ham he paid £125m for 20% of West Ham shares in a new rights issue last year, then paid another £43.75m for a further 7% from other directors.

Of the £168.75m invested, £105.2m was paid out to directors or for the benefit of directors leaving £63.55m invested back into the club."

I know exactly how the new share issue worked.

West Ham got £125 million of new money (as I said in my original post), so it was invested into West Ham. They decided to use a large tranche of it to pay down loans (£53.5 million, £44 million of which were interest bearing), reducing debt, rather than spend it on new players, or what ever. Their choice. The £125 million investment still shows in the balance sheet, at just under £125 million (costs of the share issue, reducing the £125 million slightly).

I never said that the purchase of existing shares, from the existing owners, would mean more funds for the club. If you think I said that, show me where.

£168.75 was not invested in West Ham, only £125 million.
£105.2 million wasn't paid out to the directors or for the benefit of the directors. The balance of the shareholder loans when repaid, was £53.5 million. That was paid out by West Ham.
The £43.75 million for 7% of West ham shares was never paid to West Ham, or paid out by West Ham. It was paid directly to Gold, Sullivan and Smith.

Kretinskys investment via the share issue diluted the percentage held by Sullivan Gold & Smith who in turn repaid their Director loans

Imho he has no interest in buying us outright and sees us as an investment indifferent to all of his other investments, probably in the hope that one day he will sell up when our wealthy middle East Sheikh arrives with a sackful of cash

Re: Vanessa Gold is selling a 10% stake..
I believe it’s simply the sale of some of Gold’s shares. It probably won’t benefit the club by fresh investment except the new owner might have more ambition than the Gold family.

To issue new shares the other shareholders have to have a majority decision to allow it with extra investment. However, it effectively dilutes the percentages of existing share holders hence the need for a vote.

Re: Vanessa Gold is selling a 10% stake..
I may have completely misunderstood this but I believe that a company can issue as many shares as they like and that in the case of Kretinsky it was new share issue and he paid £125m in to our accounts in return for those shares. However, this latest proposal is a sale between of current shares between 2 individuals which has to be sanctioned by the other shareholder. So how would the club benefit.
Like someone has already said, it would be great if we could get another large cash injection to boost our spending power.

He's worth £800 million.

He is a parasite in the glazier mode. Plenty of employees from Activision/Blizzard have plenty to say about him.

AVOID YANK OWNERSHIP.

I agree re Yank ownership, but it could be Saudi ownership - I don't know which is worse.

Maybe there will be chinese money coming in.

Re: Vanessa Gold is selling a 10% stake..
... presumably if Křetínský was interested this would have been a done deal behind closed doors, so you have to assume he isn't interested in taking over the club?

Completely ignorant about stuff like this but can it be done behind closed doors?

New share issue?

Isn’t he buying Gold family shares off them?

Yes.

And Kretinsky bought shares off the other owners AND lobbed in £125 million, via a new share issue.

Sounds like another modern day carpetbagger like Kretinsky.

If he's going to lob £125 million into the club, via a new share issue, like Kretinsky, let's hope he is a carpet bagger.

Re: Vanessa Gold is selling a 10% stake..
If there are to be new owners at some point it needs to be an active owner who has ambition in the club achieving something on the pitch.
As said it seems Kretinsky is just an investor along for the ride to watch his shares increase in value in a passive way.
A bit like the Glazers really
To be fair the Glazers are geniuses. Understand they put a relatively small amount in , borrowed a lots and leach out costs and dividends presumably well in excess of what they personally stumped up.
Amusing when the Man U whingers say they should sell .... WHY? They own a magic mpney tree and dont particularly give a shit whether Old Trafford is leaking or the team dominating.
KERCHING!!!!

I read the funniest/pointless article the other day where it announced that DK and Sullivan have made their stance on buying the shares public, where it starts with giving you the back story in a very long long winded way and the last sentence was “they haven’t decided yet”.

Really wound me up! 🤣

I would guess that both Golds David and Jacqueline Wills are in Probate and there may well be a considerable IHT charge which has to be paid 6 months from death hence the sale.
